  • A new type of microelectronic device, the microplasma transistor, has recently been successfully fabricated. Its birth heralds a new technological revolution for more energy-efficient, more portable, higher resolution, and higher contrast plasma displays. This article describes the principle of the microplasma transistor and its basic characteristics. In particular, its prospects in the field of light-emitting display applications are presented.
