  • Recent advances in the development of functional materials and their applications in acoustic transducers are reviewed. New transducer designs based on magnetostrictive materials, relaxor ferroelectrics, piezoelectric composites, piezoelectric polymers, high temperature piezoelectric ceramics, and so forth are discussed. As a new development, acoustic transducers based on MEMS technology are also mentioned.
