  • In recent years the spin-orbit interaction and spin current have been investigated extensively. We review some of the main developments in this field, including the intrinsic spin Hall effect and persistent spin current induced by the spin-orbit interaction, the generation of spin current, its definition, and the spin-current induced electric field. We also discuss some unsolved problems and future prospects of this field.
