Polarizing optical elements for soft X-rays

  • The status of polarizing optical elements for soft X-rays ranging from roughly 50 to 2000eV is reviewed. The performances of optics including linear polarizers, phase retarders based on multilayer interference structures, and circular polarizing filters based on magnetic circular dichroism are described. The applications of these polarizing optical elements are discussed.
