Abstract
We review the basic principles and existing problems of the photoemission spectrometer (PES), and then describe an ultrahigh-resolution PES using the 6th harmonic generation of an Nd:YVO4 laser as an optical source. With this new PES we successfully observed the superconducting electrons of CeRu2 for the first time directly with a record high resolution of 0.36meV.
