High energy density deuterium and helium: ab initio studies

The thermal physical properties of materials such as deuterium and helium, under extreme conditions are of extreme interest in condensed matter physics,plasma physics, astrophysics,and inertial confinement fusion.A brief review is given of recent studies in the warm and hot dense regimes,and the high pressure, low temperature region.The challenges in this research area are also discussed.
