Ultrafast all optical switching via tunable Fano interference

More Information
  • Published Date: February 19, 2006
  • Quantum coherence and interference are introduced briefly, as well as recent theoretical progress. A GaAs/AlxGa1-xAs asymmetric double quantum well structure with Fano-type tunneling induced quantum interference is proposed, wherein a control light beam can be used to suppress quantum interference and modify the propagation of an optical signal. This phenomenon can be used to realize a broadband ultra-fast optical switch.
