Optical fiber sensors promote industrial development

Optical fiber (OF) communications and OF sensors are two major applications of fibers. Because of their resistance to electromagnetic interference, high electromagnetic insulation, safety and adaptability for network development, OF sensors can greatly promote the development of instruments through upgrading of traditional products to form a new technical branch. The research and development of OF sensors is reviewed and the conditions for spreading their application in China are analyzed.
