Advancing physics: a challenge to physics education

Abstract
Advancing Physics is a contemporary course developed by the Institute of Physics as part of a response to the falling number of students aged over 16 who study physics in Britain. This course is contemporary in content and mode of delivery, and is also attractive and accessible to the widest possible range of students. Teaching and assessment are designed to give students opportunities to pursue and develop their own interests while examining their understanding of physics. Chinese physics teachers in school and college may learn from this reform how new changes make teaching and learning physics different as never before.
