Electronic states in finite crystals

More Information
  • Published Date: October 19, 2003
  • The theory of electronic states in the traditional solid state physics is essentially a theory of electronic states in crystals of infinite size. However, any real crystal always has a finite size. This article gives a brief summary of the background and major new results of the theory of electronic states in finite crystals recently developed by the author. Some of the results are quite different from what are traditionally believed in the solid state physics community.
