The origin, status and future of space debris

  • The concept of space debris, from the literal perspective, stands for the debris from breakup events, and has now been extended to various manmade objects in space, such as rocket bodies or satellites. Since the first day that human beings started to explore and utilize space, space debris has gradually become an unavoidable problem that affects and even threatens our future space operations. In this paper we describe the origin of the space debris, its current status, how we deal with it, and further problems that we may face in the future.
