Magnetic skyrmions in confined geometries

  • Magnetic skyrmion is a nanoscale magnetic vortex with non-trivial topology, its small size, high stability and easy control features show potential promise in future high performance memory or logic devices. In this paper, we briefly introduce the mechanisms of skyrmion formation, especially the stability and real space visualization in confined geometries as well as the challenges for devices application in future.
