Abstract
The development of high power and intense laser technology has made it possible to simulate complex plasma environments in the laboratory. In recent years, the simulation of astrophysical phenomena in the strong magnetic environment of laser plasma has become a hot topic in the field of laboratory astrophysics. This article will briefly describe various mechanisms that are used to generate a strong magnetic field by intense laser beams, including the Biermann battery effect and coil target induced magnetic fields. Some common methods of diagnosing high magnetic fields in the laboratory, such as the B-dot, proton backlight, and Faraday rotation will be presented. Finally, the latest progress in these studies will be reviewed, including magnetic field compression, jets, and so forth, as well as some new ideas for generating strong magnetic fields in the laboratory.
