Electromagnetic metasurfaces

  • Optics is the science of understanding and controlling light, in which phase manipulation plays an important role. Recently, electromagnetic metasurfaces consisting of carefully designed inhomogeneous microstructures have been developed, in which any phase distribution can be realized and controlled on a subwavelength scale. By this means we may achieve arbitrary wavefront manipulation based on the Huygens principle.
