    Abstract: A review is first given of the background of Laue′s discover which gave rise to two branches of science, X-ray spectroscopy and X-ray crystallography. This is followed by a review of the remarkable contributions of Bragg, father and son to these two areas, and a discussion of the far-reaching influence of X-ray crystallography.
