Abstract: Progress in the development of new high-density digital versatile disk(HD-DVD) is reviewed. Several novel blue-green laserrecording materials, the problems facing HD-DVD and their solutions are discussed. Various issues that should be taken into consideration in future research on super high-density optical disk storage in China are pointed out.
